Cañada de la Virgen Archaeological Area

Located within the mountainous relief of Guanajuato, Cañada de la Virgen was a pre-Hispanic settlement whose main monuments were used to make observations in the sky.
Its urban layout reflects the cosmic cycles linked to the life of groups of farmers who also practiced gathering and hunting. The apogee of this important ceremonial center took place between the years 600 and 900 AD, situating itself in the Mesoamerican epiclassic.

During the visit stands out structures such as the House of the Thirteen Heavens, with its sunken patio and largest pyramidal base of the site, as well as the House of the Longest Night, related to the winter solstice.
